Julio Camajuare Cisneros avoided the maximum sentence following an investigation into his activities online when he solicited a teenager he knew was underage, according to the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.
Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office led a sting operation with several other agencies that involved one investigator posing as the 14-year-old child who drew Camajuare Cisneros' attention.
Investigators said that the two shared messages earlier this year, and during the chats, Camajuare Cisneros acknowledged the teen's age while continuing to solicit sex acts from the "child."
They were able to arrange a meet with Camajuare Cisneros in Sterling, and he arrived with two Viagra pills and condoms when he was met by officers, not a teen girl.
Camajuare Cisneros was sentenced to ten years in prison, with all but one year and six months suspended for using a communications to propose a sex act to a minor.
The suspended sentence is based on the condition he "complete supervised probation, not to exceed five years, and 10 years of good behavior" once he is released.
At his sentencing, Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Shara LaRosa Krogh stated that "the Commonwealth has an interest in protecting the most vulnerable members of our community - children.
"(This sends) a message to others that sexual offenses against children are taken seriously and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible ... a deterrent to go online and try to have sex with children.
Camajuare Cisneros also faces possible deportation once he is released from custody. Prosecutors earlier cautioned him that he was subject to an ICE detainer.
"If you are deported, you are not allowed to re-enter illegally," a judge cautioned at his sentencing, adding that it would be "a violation of the requirement to 'be of good behavior,'" which was part of his sentence.
